Hotel Review: Hampton Inn Harriman Woodbury

New York . 2012 . Oct 01-05

We foresaw that we needed more time to check out the bargains at the Premium Outlets and as driving was not an option to us (and it does not make sense to waste time on transportation to and from New York City every day), we decided that staying at a hotel near the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets is the more sensible option. After much research on Hotelscombined.com and Agoda, we finally settled on Hampton Inn Harriman Woodbury.

While the hotel claims that they are within a short distance from Woodbury Common Premium Outlet, we were sceptical when we arrived at the outlet and saw no sight of any hotels at walking distance.   We gave them a call, and fortunately, the hotel sent their hotel shuttle to pick us up at no extra charge as part of their complimentary service.   The hotel is about 5 – 7 mins ride away from the Premium Outlet, definitely not walking distance for people with luggage.

We stayed here for 2 nights at a cost of USD$170 per night.

The Surroundings

Check in area is nice and bright.   Check-in was a breeze.

Sparsely furnished, but comfortable reception area.

Breakfast area.

The Room

We had booked a Double Queen non-smoking room due to the cheaper rate than a King room.   As with all Hampton Inns, the room comes with free wi-fi and complimentary breakfast.   The room is spacious and clean.  Bed linens are clean and stain free and has no bed bugs.

View outside the window.

Toilets are clean, spacious and well maintained.  No stains or smells from the toilet.

The Complimentary Breakfast

Hampton Inn gives complimentary breakfast to all its guests.  The breakfast menu is rotated so that guests will have something new every day.  There’s a great variety each morning, and there’s always something hot for breakfast like pancakes or freshly fried bacons.

Verdict:

Hampton Inn Harriman Woodbury is good for those who want to spend an extra day or two at Woodbury Common Premium Outlet.  No frills, simple and clean premises. But you would need to factor in extra costs to tip the driver for the complimentary transport to Woodbury Common Premium Outlet.  Their complimentary shuttle service to Woodbury Common Premium Outlet does not run 24 hrs, they actually stop at around 8pm.  We shopped until 10pm one day and almost had to plead with them to come pick us up at the Premium Outlet.  Needless to say, we gave them more tips when we alighted.
