Day 2 Diamond Princess Alaska Cruise - Naturalist Presentation@Sea: An Introduction to the Wildlife of Alaska

Alaska Cruise . 2012 . Sep 16

Look out!....Up....and All Around!!  Continuing right after the Alaska Shopping Spotlight Show at the Princess Theatre is a presentation by our on-board Naturalist, Mr Ken Clineman.

As our on-board Naturalist, Ken is instrumental in helping us spot wildlife on the cruise ship. Ken visited Alaska with his wife after his retirement and both of them fell in love with Alaska right-away. He eventually got a job at Glacier Bay National Park and is now working for Princess Cruises as a Naturalist.

Tip:  Staff on board the ship tells us that this is a popular show and this is confirmed by the huge turnout, so come early to snag a good seat.

Ken shares with us his experiences and gives us tips on how to spot wildlifeOne of those very useful tips that stayed in my mind – use your naked eyes to scan the horizon first for any signs of movement, and when you think you see something moving, use the binoculars to zoom inNever scan the horizon with your binoculars!

Overall an informative and highly recommended show, especially for nature lovers.  You won't fall asleep even if the seat is comfortable!

Tip: The cruise ship sells The Alaska Cruise Companion book on board which comes with close to 300 full coloured pages with photos and ports of calls introduction. It also comes with a companion cruise route map which you can follow on your cruise. Do check out our review of the book here in our previous post.
