Kuala Lumpur . 2012 . Jan 14-15
This was our second trip to Kuala Lumpur; our last trip there was in 2003, a whopping 9 years ago! Kuala Lumpur has not changed much over the years, at least most parts of it are still recognizable to me.
We have booked the AirAsia flights on Boxing Day in 2011 when we wanted to take a short weekend getaway trip.
We managed to get a pair of return tickets at a price of SGD$226, which works out to be a comfortable $113 per person. The price included AirAsia Insure at a price of SGD$10 each as well as SGD$6 each for picking our seats.
Detailed price breakdown for the pair of return flight tickets were as follows (in SGD$)
Flight
Air Fare 88.00
Passenger Security Fee 16.00
Passenger Service Fee 27.80
Airport Tax 30.00
Aviation Levy 12.20
Fuel Surcharge 20.00
Sub Total 194.00
Services & Fees
AirAsia Insure Return 20.00
Pick a Seat 12.00
Sub Total 32.00
Total Amount 226.00
As you can see, airfare works out to be around 39% of the total air ticket price.
The outgoing AK720 flight departs from Singapore Changi Airport Termimal 1 @ 0740 hrs and would reach KL LCCT @ 0840 hrs. The return AK715 flight departs KL the next day @ 2010 hrs and we would be back in Singapore by 2115 hrs.
We have taken Air Asia previously on our trip to Langkawi. The rise of AirAsia has enabled many travellers like us to travel more often to neighbouring countries for a quick getaway.
Overall, the flights arrived on schedule. This is important as any delays in the flights would mean an even shorter getaway for us and defeat the purpose of travelling.
