Shopping in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur . 2012 . Jan 14-15

Our first stop of shopping at KL was to the Pavilion Mall.

As Chinese New Year was just a week away, the mall was decked out in festive colours and dressed to welcome the Year of the Dragon. We also managed to catch a Lion Dance Performance at the Mall.

After our lunch at Grand Palace Restaurant, our next stop was Tokyo Street. This was similar to the ones we normally see in Singapore. It is located at the Level 6 where the restaurants are and is made to resemble a real Japanese street, complete with Japanese restaurants, finger food, bakeries and Japanese wares.

Tip: If you are a tourist, remember to get a copy of your Tourist Reward card at the information counter.  It gives you some discounts at the participating stores.  We flashed this card at the restaurant and got a free dessert!

Berjaya Times Square is located just diagonally opposite our hotel, a short 5 to 10 minutes walk away.

We stayed at Berjaya Times Square on our first trip to Kuala Lumpur in October 2003.  At that time, it was a brand new mall with an indoor theme park and 13 storeys of shopping.  There was also my favourite Thai restaurant with the best ever Tom Yum soup.  But the restaurant has since closed down and the mall is now littered with small time shops at the higher levels.

Took a cab to Suria KLCC...

We were craving for some authentic fruit juice to rejuvenate us, made a beeline for Juice Works at Suria KLCC.

A trip to Suria KLCC will never be complete without a trip to San Francisco Coffee. The coffee chain is also available in Singapore. However, the prices are definitely much cheaper in KL.
